________________________________________________________________
“SP Brewery has invested K90m to increase its production capacity for the next three years,” announced the company Chairman Sir Joseph Tauvasa, at a press conference held on Tuesday 5 th February at SP Brewery.
According to Sir Joseph, the approval of the K90m development plans was of two main reasons:
“The approval from the SPB Board and its shareholders shows the confidence we have on the PNG economy and the ability of the current Government to continue to maintain the current economic trend. In the past 3 years, the economy has continuously improved thus is encouraging for such investments to be made,” said Sir Joseph.
SPB told the media that the K90m will be utilized in the next three years to upgrade its Breweries and production facilities in both Gordon and Lae. “The 3-year period will allow for lesser disruption to our operations ,” said Sir Joseph.
Some of the major developments in the two breweries will include: CO2 Recuperation Plants (Gordon and Lae); Can Filler & Seamer (Gordon), Bottle Filler and Crowner (Lae); De-Aerated Water Plant; new packing machines on bottling lines (Gordon and Lae) and wrap-around and shrink wrapper for canning line (Gordon) to name a few.
