“FORTY eight professional golfers have registered to compete in the 2008 South Pacific Export Golf Open on 8 th May 2008, which includes our local professionals, Augustine (Gus) Peni and David Yere” said Tournament Director Ken Dunn.

“We are expecting over 150 golfers, including the 48 professional golfers, to participate in the biggest event of the PNG golf calendar. After receiving the award for 2007 Tournament of the Year from the Queensland PGA the expectations this year are high”

Amongst the professional golfers are 2 from Malaysia, which adds to the international flavour of the event. “Of these 48, three previous winners will be returning again – they are Brad Burns, Pat Giles and Eddie Barr.

AU$80,000 is up for grabs for the winner of event plus many more prizes.

Interested golfers can contact the Port Moresby Golf Club (Ph 3255367) to obtain a nomination form and also confirm their eligibility to participate in the event. Nomination forms have been sent out to all PNG Golf Clubs.
