SP Brewery entered two International beer competitions this year – the Monde Selection and the Australia International Beer Awards.
“Our South Pacific Export Lager was awarded a Gold medal at the 45th World Selections by Monde Selection in Prague, Czech Republic,” said Mr Yeo.
Based in Brussels, the Monde Selection is the International Institute for Quality. Established in 1961 in Belgium, it is one of the world’s most prestigious beer awards. This International Beer Competition attracts entries from all continents and this year, over 70 countries participated in the awards.
The Monde Selection recognizes the quality of ingredients used, the brewing processes and techniques, and awards Gold medal only to those that meet the highest standards.
“So against some of the world’s champion beers, a PNG-made product winning a Gold medal at the Monde Selection, is truly prestigious” stated the SPB GM.
“Not only did our Export Lager win gold, our SP Lager and Niugini Ice claimed Bronze medal, which is also a creditable achievement.”
At the Australian International Beer Award (AIBA) held in Melbourne, Australia, Silver medals were awarded to the SP Lager, SP Export Lager and Niugini Ice brands in the International Section under the category ‘Australian-Style Lager’.
The highest achievement was Silver medal, which our Beers won alongside other major brewers like Lion Nathan and Carlton United Breweries.
“With this testimony, we know now that our PNG-made beers are as good, or even better, than other international products.
“SPB is very proud of these achievements by our Lae and Port Moresby Breweries. The credit must go to our loyal and dedicated staff who have given their best to maintain this high level of excellence, and we are fully committed to maintaining these high standards in the years to come,” said Mr Yeo.
