NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 23RD SP SPORTS AWARDS

Nominations for the prestigious SP Sports Awards opened this week.

This year marks the 23rd year of the awards which recognizes the excellence of PNG’s elite sporting personalities and those who make their amazing achievements possible.

SP Brewery’s HR & Corporate Affairs Manager Reg Monagi urged all sporting federations and the public to start nominating.  He further added that with the nation gearing up for the 2015 Pacific Games, the awards have been brought forward to March 28th.

“SP Brewery in partnership with the PNG Olympic Committee is happy to bring the 23nd SP Sports Awards.  Our prize money for the 12 categories this year stands at K37, 000.”

Mr. Monagi also thanked support sponsors Air Niugini, City Pharmacy Group of Companies, Crowne Plaza, EMTV, FM 100, Grafitti Signs, Theodist and Deloittes Touche Tomatsu for their valuable support.

Secretary General of the PNG Olympic Committee Auvita Rapilla thanked SP Brewery for its continued sponsorship off the awards.

“The gold standard commitment SP has shown to the awards is the type of commitment that our sporting stars have shown to reach the level of success they enjoy. SP Brewery’s commitment to the SP Sports Awards and to PNG sport through its many other sponsorships validates their position as an organization that is behind PNG’s finest.”

Minister for Sports and Pacific Games Justin Tkatchenko further highlighted that this year was an important one.  He emphasized that every day until the Pacific Games is a ‘gold’ day.

Nominations are now open and will close on the 25th of February.
