Nominations for the 22nd SP Sports Awards are now open.  Speaking during the launch was 2013 Sportsman of the Year cricketer Assad Vala.

The twenty-six year old who has represented PNG on numerous International Cricket Council World Cup Qualifying tournaments said the SP Sports Awards is a special event for those involved with sports in the country.

Whilst calling on the public to nominate athletes and sports administrators for the 14 categories, the young sportsman stressed that nominating these individuals also encourages the sporting community to do their best in the pursuit of excellence.

This year’s SP Sports Awards promises to be bigger and better with a prize money of K43, 000.00.  The awards are a premier event that recognizes athletes and officials sporting excellence.

Nominations will close on Monday the 31st of March.
