TEAM PNG to the South Pacific Games received a hefty K100,000 from PNG’s leading brewer SP Brewery on 14th August at a small ceremony at the SP Brewery Brewkettle.
In presenting the cheque to PNG Sports Federation Secretary General Sir John Dawanincura, SP Brewery General Manager Stan Joyce said that SP Brewery was proud to continue its support to Team PNG for the Samoan Games.
“With this being SP Brewery’s Triple Gold Medal Year, it’s only befitting that we become a Gold Sponsor to Team PNG.
“I am sure these funds will allow more athletes to travel to the Games and give us better chances of winning PNG the medals it deserves,” said Mr Joyce.
SP Brewery has been a sponsor of Team PNG through the PNG Sports Federation since the 1991 SP Games.
“And we are proud to continue this relationship,” said the Brewery Chief.
Mr Joyce said that SP Brewery understands that every year, the Federation has a tremendous task of raising funds for Team PNG to participate in its 4-year cycle of events.
“To show our support for the ongoing development of sports in PNG, SP Brewery has always supported the PNGSF in its fundraising drive. We have committed K50,000 per annum in the past two years and this year, being our Gold Medal Year, we have increased our sponsorship to K100,000.”
The SPB GM said that SP Brewery has won its share of Gold Medals on the International front this year “and we aim to continue this by building a winning culture in our company.”
