10 Aug 2011 - SP BREWERY SPONSORS THE ENGA AND Mt HAGEN PROVINCIAL SHOWS

As part of their continued support to Papua New Guinea’s cultural heritage, SP Brewery has assisted with a total of K35, 000 to the Enga and Mt Hagen Shows scheduled for this weekend.

Regional Sales Manager for Highlands Greg Baker said as part of SP Brewery's Corporate Social Responsibility, the Company continues to renew its ties with major cultural events.

"We at SP Brewery are proud to support provincial events like the Enga and Mt Hagen shows. We believe that it is important to maintain and uphold our cultural heritage."

SP Brewery donated K20, 000 to the Enga Provincial Show and K15, 000 to the Mt Hagen Show.

"Under the sponsorship, SP Brewery will be using the Shows to promote the Enjoy Responsibly message. We need to work together to make people understand that you to enjoy yourself, you need to enjoy beer responsibly."

SP Brewery is continuing to work with various provincial governments to provide awareness on the consumption of alcohol.

The Enga and Mt Hagen Cultural Shows will be staged simultaneously in Wabag and Mt Hagen from 12-14th of August.


28 Jul 2011 - SP BREWERY SUPPORTS TEAM PNG IN THE 2011 PACIFIC GAMES IN NOUMEA, NEW CALEDONIA

SP Brewery announced its our ongoing commitment to Sports in PNG, with a K100,000 sponsorship to send off Papua New Guinea's elite athletes to next month's Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

SP Brewery General Manager Stan Joyce said PNGs quest for gold on the international sporting scene is a vision that SP Brewery also aspires to and looks to maintain.

"SP Brewery did achieve that this year, in April, when SP Brewery were awarded with three gold medals from the European Monde Selection Beer Awards for its SP Lager, South Pacific Export Lager and Niugini Ice bottles."

Mr Joyce said like SP Brewery, the PNG Sports Federation & Olympic Committee works in tandem with the National Federations to ensure that we can perform at the elite level and win some gold medals.

"To achieve this, absolute discipline and focus must be taken by any athlete in preparing before, during and after the competition or big race," said Mr Joyce.


19 Jul 2011 - SP BREWERY SPONSORS THE PNG BILLIARDS & SNOOKER ASSOCIATION'S REFEREE & COACHING COURSE

As part of our continued contribution to Sport, SP Brewery is proud to be associated with the PNGBSA to bring you the Referee and Coaching Course that will take place in August.

SP Brewery's Personnel Manager David Sisione in presenting a cheque of K7,000 said that SP Brewery were happy to work in partnership with the Port Moresby Country Club we have come together through sports to promote the sport of snooker and promote the message of 'Responsible Drinking'.

"We want to ensure snooker players and supporters and the community at large to take heed of the consequences of intoxication as we work in reducing the harmful effects of alcohol consumption in line with the World Health Organization global strategy."

Mr Sisione congratulated PNGBSA for securing New Zealand's number 1 ranked snooker player Gary Gillard to facilitate the courses.


11 Jul 2011 - SP BREWERY GETS SET FOR TRUKAI FUN RUN

As part of their continued support to sports, SP Brewery has once again come out to show their commitment by donating 300 T-shirts to the Port Moresby Business College.

In presenting the T-shirts, SP Brewery's Learning & Development Manager Tessie Tsido said SP Brewery has been a staunch supporter of sports since the Fun Run's inception several years ago and this year is no different.

"We realize that the money raised through the sale of Fun Run shirts assists the PNG Sports Federation & Olympic Committee to send strong teams to international fixtures."

SP Brewery continues to support sports by the staging the PNG Golf Open, assisting to Rugby Union and League as well as the annual Sports Awards.

Port Moresby Business College Principal John August thanked SP Brewery for supporting the College as last year they missed out on receiving T-shirts.

"We thank SP Brewery for this kind assistance. These T-shirts will be given to the Student Representative Council who will sell the T-shirts to raise money for the SRC."

Port Moresby College has a total of 800 students both fulltime and part time students taking up Business courses. The College was established in 1974, known then as the Port Moresby Secretarial College.

The Trukai Fun Run will be held in Port Moresby on Sunday, July 31st in Port Moresby.

5 Jul 2011 - SP BREWERY SUPPORTS 17th MASK FESTIVAL

SP Brewery has come on board to sponsor the 17th Mask Festival with K10, 000. The Mask Festival starts today (Wednesday 6th July) at Takubar Sports Field in Kokopo .

SP Brewery's New Guinea Islands Regional Sales Manager Richard Baul based in Kokopo, said SP Brewery has always been a strong supporter of preserving PNG's cultural heritage by sponsoring shows like the Mask Festival.

"SP Brewery is proud to be associated with the annual Mask Festival which is the biggest cultural show in the New Guinea Islands region," said Mr Baul.

He said with the completion of the Warwagira Show earlier this week, local residents as well as tourists are geared up to see the many different cultural performance from East New Britain and other provinces.

"SP Brewery recognizes the importance of PNG traditions and cultures and the need to preserve the cultural heritage for future generations," said Mr Baul.

Mr Baul commended the East New Britain Tourism Office for organizing the event and acknowledged the support of other sponsors.

The 17th Mask Festival will start on Wednesday 6th July and end on Saturday 9th July.

12 May 2011 - PNG Golf Open 2011

The South Pacific Export PNG Golf Open ended on a high note with Australian golfer Mathew Ballard walking away with A$125,000 in prize money.

"It’s a great feeling to win the National Title of Papua New Guinea and it was great to see the entire local support over the final nine holes," said Ballard.

Ballard completed his find round with one-under 71 to win by seven shots ahead of fellow Australian Heath Reed.

The fourth year running under the South Pacific Export brand the four day open held at the Port Moresby Golf Club from May 12th-15th was described as one of the toughest courses from the 70 visiting golfers.
