World Cultural Diversity Day

“We see our strength in trust, diversity and progress and we stand by our values: passion for quality, enjoyment of life and respect for people and for the planet.”

It is said that three-quarters of the world’s major conflicts have a cultural dimension and Papua New Guinea is no exception. Bridging the gap between cultures and ethnic groups is urgent and necessary for peace, stability and development.

South Pacific Brewery Ltd (SPB) is a culturally diverse Company. It employs 383 staff at two breweries, two depots and four sales offices in the four regions of the country. While the majority of the staff are Papua New Guineans, there are only nine (9) expatriates, from Jamaica, Netherlands, France, Russia, Belgium, Australia and Germany.

The mix of people at SP Brewery is what strengthens and adds value to teams. Diverse teams are creative and generate ideas.

Despite our cultural diversity, we:

  • Overcome barriers
  • Work as an inclusive team
  • Are conscious of our approach to each other
  • Build strong relationships

By engaging and developing our people, we turn creativity into innovation and increased business performance.

To celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity, our staff participated in internal activities to showcase different our ethnicities and promote inclusion and diversity at the workplace.
